Masonry in the Movies

Enter the fraternity’s first video contest, and you might just win a Flip Video Camcorder and your video debut on the official website and social media sites of the Masons of California.
You’ve got three minutes to answer the question, What does Masonry mean to you?
How you answer is up to you. Make us laugh, or make us cry. Write a song. Choreograph a dance. Interview a brother, or take us behind the scenes of your lodge.
Work with others – your lodge, your family, your local youth orders – or work alone. Just put it on video.
We’ll debut the top three videos on freemason.org, Facebook, and our upcoming YouTube channel for the Masons of California. One grand-prize winner will also receive a Flip Video Camcorder.
Contest rules:
• At least one entrant must be a member of a California Masonic organization
• Videos must be three minutes or less
• Due Aug. 31
• Submit signed release forms for everyone who appears on camera

Send videos and signed releases to communications@freemason.org (put “Video contest” in the subject line) or mail to Communications c/o Video Contest, Grand Lodge of California, 1111 California St., San Francisco, CA 94108.

Questions? E-mail us.

Operation Greatest Gift

Dear Brother,
Preparations for the fall trips of Operation Greatest Gift are under way at Grand Lodge, as more veterans eagerly await their chance to see the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Unfortunately, some veterans - many, in their late 80s and early 90s - have had to give up their spots due to failing health. Their situation is a reminder of the urgency to honor as many WWII veterans as we can today, whether it's with a trip to the Memorial or a simple thank-you.
We need your help. We have a handful of spots available for veterans on our Sept. 9-11 and Sept. 16-18 trips. We are looking for WWII veterans who live in or near the following areas: San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego, Ontario, and Fresno.
If you know a veteran who would like to participate, contact Joyce Hahn at jhahn@freemason.org or 415/292-9139. Please submit the veteran's legal name, address, phone number, and record ID (if a California Mason) or date of birth.

Help every WWII veteran join this trip of a lifetime.
